The Journal of Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences (JSSU) is a monthly peer-reviewed open-access journal.
The journal has been published with the objective of increasing the knowledge of its readers as well as providing a platform for the interchange of scientific experiences and debates. Based on the editorial board's policy, original research papers, review articles, and case reports are considered for publication in this journal. However, merely translated manuscripts are not accepted.
Submission :
- Authors should submit their manuscript online via registration at (http://jssu.ssu.ac.ir). It is notable to submit the article in two forms of files namely: "with the name(s) and affiliation(s) of the author(s)" and "without the name(s) and affiliation(s) of the author(s)".
- The manuscript should not have been published or considered for publication in any other journals. Any contradiction to the above statement will lead to the automatic withdrawal of the manuscript.
- Provision of statements from the Bioethics Committee is essential for clinical trial studies.
- In case of any financial support, it is important to mention the name of the respective organization/institute and the project number at the end of the manuscript.

- Title: The title should be expressive and concise. An attempt should be made to use Persian words or transcript the Latin words in Persian. The usage of Latin fonts is strictly prohibited. The Title should be followed by the name(s) of the author(s) and their affiliation.
- Abstract with subheadings of Introduction, Methods and Materials, Results, Conclusion, and 3-5 keywords should be indicated after Abstract. Keywords must be MeSH terms. The abstract should be at most 260 words.
- Introduction (justification for doing the research, review of other studies, objectives of the study)
- Materials and Methods (type of research, method of research, statistical software)
- Results (reporting the results of research)
- Discussion (discussing the results, comparing the results with that of similar studies, practical application of results, limitations of the research)
- Conclusion (emphasize the present findings and the variations or similarities with other work done in this field by other researchers)
- Acknowledgment (All contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship should be covered in the acknowledgment section)
- References (references should be numbered consecutively in the order of citation in the text, style should be according to the section of "Reference writing")

These articles are like those of the original ones except that these are shorter and prepared in a minimum of 1500 and a maximum of 3000 words. The results and discussion sections should preferably be merged.

− Non-systematic reviews: This kind of manuscript should be written by researchers who are experts in the related field. They should contain at least 25 references and a range of 3000-10000 words, including the references and captions.

Tables, Graphs, and Figures:
- Tables, Graphs, and Figures should be formatted in accordance with the text.
- The use of tables, graphs, and figures should be appropriate and not redundant; examples of these (some do not contribute to the results of the study) are a 2-row table, and figures of routine Lab. Tools or pictures of killed lab. animals as witnesses to the true nature of the study. Most authorities believe that for each 500 to 700 words there should be one figure or table.
- The tables, graphs, and figures should be self-explanatory, be numbered, have a complete title, be clear, have a legend, and not be hand-drawn. The picture should be so clear that the findings alluded to in the title or text of the article could be visible and when necessary should be colored. In some cases, the original picture should be submitted as the computer-generated electrophoresis or EKG graph may not be useful.
- Deduction of the true purpose of a table or figure should be possible without referring to the text of the article.
- Tables and figures should explain the findings in brief.
- Numbering the indexes should be consecutive in the text of the article.
- Tables and figures should be numbered as they appear in the article.
Peer review process
1- For paper submission, authors should refer to the journal website and register themselves as an author using the "Register" link. After receiving their username and password via e-mail, the authors could use the "Submit paper" link, log in, and submit their manuscripts.
2- If the received manuscript is not written according to the journal format (considering the format in sectioning, the number of words in the abstract, references, etc.…) and/or the English language does not meet the required quality, the manuscript will be sent back to the corresponding author for revision and re-submission.
3- Manuscripts having the above-mentioned criteria are referred to the editor-in-chief. If the paper fits the specified fields of the journal and has innovation, then it will be sent to three or more national expert referees in that specific field, at least two of which are out of the editorial board members. The corresponding author could also suggest potential reviewers to the journal at the time of submission. However, the editorial board reserves the right to select or refuse to use the suggested potential reviewers.
4- Each reviewer suggests alteration/corrections or additional work to be done, asks questions to be answered by the author, and makes an overall opinion about the manuscript as being: acceptable as it is, acceptable after minor/major revision, or not acceptable
5-Then, the comments are discussed with the journal’s editorial board, and the final decision (the acceptance letter or a letter informing the author of not accepting the manuscript) will be sent to the corresponding author.
6- All of the accepted manuscripts are reviewed by a statistics expert.
7-Then the reviewers´ comments will be sent to the corresponding authors for answering the reviewer’s comments.
8- After receiving the modified version of the manuscript and/or the author’s answers to the reviewer’s questions, it will be sent to a final reviewer. If the modifications and/or answers are not adequate, the manuscript will be sent back to the corresponding author with a specified deadline to send the final corrected version.
9- The final corrected version of the manuscript is sent back to the same final reviewer. After the confirmation, the manuscript will be sent to the page layout.

This open-access (no charge) Journal of Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences allows users to read, copy, distribute and make derivative works for non-commercial purposes from the material, as long as the author of the original work is cited properly. Authorship criteria
All persons designated as authors should qualify for authorship and all those who qualify should be listed. Conditions 1, 2, and 3 must all be met. Acquisition of funding, the collection of data, or general supervision of the research group, by themselves, do not justify authorship. All others who contributed to the work who are not authors should be named in the Acknowledgements section.
Ethics of scientific publishing:
Journal of Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences will follow the COPE guidelines on dealing with any potential misconduct. In order to maintain the research integrity, authors should follow the rules which include:
-Authors should clarify that they have not submitted the manuscript in more than one journal (duplicate submission).
-Authors should not publish the submitted manuscript in the Journal of Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences elsewhere previously as part or full (duplicate publication) unless some new results would be considered. In this situation, authors should clear the re-use of material in order to avoid self-plagiarism.
-Authors should avoid "salami-publishing". It means the authors should not split up the results of a work to publish them in more than one journal.
-Authors should not use data that have been fabricated or manipulated such as images in order to support the conclusions.
-Authors should mention clearly the data, text, or theories by other authors using quotation marks or writing in acknowledgment.
-Authors should permit for using material that is copyrighted and secured.
-All authors should have consent from the responsible authorities.
-Authors in the submitted manuscript should have sufficient contributions to the scientific work and have responsibility for the results.
-Authors should be informed that any changes in authorship or in the order of the authors in the submitted manuscript in the Journal of Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences would not be considered by this journal after acceptance of the manuscript. But, if all authors have written approval with an explanation in detail about deletion or adding another one(s), this journal will consider the changes.
-Authors should prepare and send to the journal the relevant documents or data to verify the validity of the results.

If the Journal of Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences finds the potential or suspicion of misconduct, this journal will follow the COPE guidelines. If the journal ensures the misconduct, this journal will contact to the author and request the author to address the issue. After the establishment of the doubt, Editor-in-Chief will follow:
-If the manuscript is under consideration, it may be returned to the author or rejected.
-If the article has been published, it may retract and therefore the reason in detail will be published as a retraction note. Also, this journal may publish an erratum with an explanation in detail.
-Finally, this journal will contact the author's institution.

- The complaint must be about something that is within the responsibility of the editorial board of this journal - content or process.
How to make a complaint

The best way to reach us is by email. Complaints should ideally be made to the person the complainant is already in contact with over the matter being complained about. If that is not appropriate, please email journal.ssugmail.com. Whenever possible, complaints will be processed by the relevant member of the Editorial Board. If that person cannot deal with the complaint, it will be referred to the appropriate section editor or the executive editor.
- All complaints will be acknowledged within seven working days.
- If possible, a full response will be made within four weeks. If this is not possible, an interim response will be given within four weeks. Further interim responses will be provided until the complaint is resolved.
